Middle English Reading Group: Wednesday at 1:00
The Middle English Reading Group (MERG) will meet on Wednesday, 11 March at 1 p.m. in the courtyard of the Holmes Building.
They'll be tracking our readings so go along for some fun! All welcome; the group reads and doesn't translate or interpret or anything like that--very low pressure and great practice.
This week (11 March) it'll be passus I-II (of Pearsall's new C edition).

Great links to online digital images of MSS and editions
Sites that are really good for this class:
- To repeat, the International Piers Plowman Society's page includes among other treats an annotated online bibliography from ca. 1985-2006.
- http://digital.lib.lehigh.edu/bookshelf/ where you will find links to two full-colour online facsimiles of two 1550 editions. The "1505" one is what I suggest for your portfolio.
- The image from Harley 2376 is available here. You can click on for bigger images.
- A complete full-colour facsimile of a manuscript--the only one I know of on the web--is of National Library of Wales MS 733b, available here.
- You might also like to play around with The Piers Plowman Electronic Archive.
Week 2 of Langland in Sydney!
Hi friends -- you'll see I've made a blog. That does mean that the public can keep tabs on us. Hello public! But I thought it'd be an easy way to communicate.
What I neglected to say today in class was:
What I neglected to say today in class was:
- yes, it's a good idea to go ahead and get into the portfolio for next week!
- and, for a kick-a** annotated bibliography of Langland criticism from c. 1985 through 2006 go to http://www.piersplowman.org > "Bibliographies" where you can do lots of good searches. NB if you find any mistakes --and there are lots in there I'm sure --please let me know cos I am the person who oversees this site. Thanks.
